Whole Food Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is responsible for more than three hundred metabolic functions in the body, including the production of collagen, which forms the basis of connective tissues such as bones, teeth, and cartilage, production of adrenal hormones, and helps support immune, nervous system, cardiovascular, and eye health. Vitamin C exists in nature as a complex of bioactive compounds including Ascorbinogen, Bioflavonoids, Rutin, Tyrosinase, Factor J, Factor K, and Factor P that work synergistically to deliver therapeutic benefits. Ascorbic Acid, which is listed on most product labels as Vitamin C, is a man-made compound that does not occur in nature and should not be confused with whole-food Vitamin C that is naturally present in foods along with the co-factors required for its optimal utilization by the body.

Multi-Collagen Powder

Multi-Collagen is a blend of Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen Peptides (Type I & III), Hydrolyzed Fish Collagen Peptides (Type I & III) and a patented formula, which is made of Avian Sternum Cartilage, Egg Shell Membranes, providing collagen Type I, Type II, Type V, Type X, Hyaluronic Acid, Chondroitin Sulfate and Mucopolysacaride. The patented formula naturally contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial compounds to support tendon recovery and to maintain healthy and strong mechanical properties of tendon functions.  Collagen is often described as “the glue that holds the body together” and its amino acid profile is special because of proline, glycine, glutamine, and arginine – 4 amino acids the body needs to reduce gut inflammation, aid in digestion, regulate stomach acid secretion, and maintain healthy gut flora by rebuilding the intestinal wall.

Best Bone Broth

Made with bones from organically raised chickens or grass-fed bovines, then slow simmered with organic vegetables, sea salt and herbs. All that simmer-time extracts insane amounts of protein (10g per serving), glycine, glucosamine, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. That’s a long list of goodness, all of which your body converts into energy, stronger muscles, and a more effective immune system. Bone broth is also an amazing source of collagen which will help improve health of skin, hair, bone and joints. Incredibly delicious straight from the cup or added to soups. Three flavors available: Beef, Chicken, and Chicken Mushroom.

Trans-Dermal Magnesium

It has been found that magnesium, despite being available in many dietary sources, is not best absorbed orally. The best way to regularly increase levels of magnesium is by applying it trans-dermally (topically applied to skin). Some health experts have begun calling topical magnesium chloride application, Trans-dermal Magnesium Therapy (TMT). Magnesium is required for the proper function of over 325 enzymatic processes in the body, and is needed to keep the brain, nerves, flexors, motor nerves and spinal nerves all functioning properly. Additional benefits include increased sleep, reduced muscle aches, pains, cramping and spasms, healthy skin and reduced outbreaks of eczema and psoriasis, better relaxation and stress management, increased energy levels and improved moods. MSM has long been revered as a superior form of sulfur supplementation. A well-researched benefit of MSM is that it helps decrease joint inflammation, improves flexibility and may help restore your body’s own collagen production, but as a topical it enhances cell membrane permeability and may facilitate more efficient uptake of magnesium ions.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a golden spice containing curcumin as an active ingredient, which positively affects the blood flow in a similar way to exercise. It also decreases the fibrogen level (a clotting factor) in the body which is one of the main culprits behind coronary heart disease. Turmeric is one of the healthiest and most complete herbs on the planet. Not only is Turmeric Root Extract a natural and effective anti-inflammatory, but also a powerful antioxidant that supports cardiovascular, brain and digestive health.

Substitutes: Turmeric as a spice is also delicious. Try it on eggs, chicken, fish… you name it! I use the spice daily. However, to get the full health benefits Turmeric has to offer, We recommend supplement form.

Whole Foods (Daily Eats)

Apples

Apple contains a compound called rutin that has been found to be a potential clot-buster. Popular anti-clotting drugs like aspirin, warfarin and clopidogrel either target blood clots in the veins or in the arteries. But rutin, also known as quercetin-3-rutinoside, targets both. This is because the flavonoid does not go after the blood clot directly. Instead rutin targets the enzyme called protein disulfide isomerase that are rapidly released by cells when blood clots within the vessels. This effectively inhibits both platelet accumulation and fibrin generation. The paper published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation which made this discovery also found that rutin retains its anti-thrombotic activities after being ingested in the form of pills by mouse. The next step is to test whether the same occurs in humans too.

Substitutes: Rutin is not found in apples only. It also occurs in buckwheat, oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes, teas and onions. Try it concentrated in this bioflavonoid complex.

Pineapple

Pineapple is the source of bromelain, a protein-digesting enzyme that inhibits the formation of pro-inflammatory molecules. Besides fighting inflammation, bromelain has also been found to modulate immune functions and has gradually been used as a complementary agent in tumor therapy. Lab tests also revealed that bromelain also possesses anti-clotting and fibrin-dissolving properties that may one day be used in the fight against cardiovascular disease. It is believed that bromelain stimulates the production of plasmin, which helps to clear the fibrin in blood clots; reduces blood level of fibrinogen (a pre-cursor to fibrin); prevents aggregation of blood platelets, and prevents adhesion of platelets to endothelial cells of blood vessels (source).

Substitutes: Bromelain appears to be found only in fresh pineapples. Canned pineapples are devoid of the enzyme due to heat processing and long storage. If fresh pineapples are hard to come by, fear not. Bromelain is also commonly available as a supplement.

Fish and Fish Oil (Omega-3)

Fish is the richest source of Omega-3 fatty acid, especially fatty fish.

According to research, it is quoted that eating fatty fish alters the shape of blood platelets so that they will not stick together to form a clump. This prevents blood clots from forming. So add fish to your regular diet as it promotes cardiovascular health.

Nuts

Nuts are abundant sources of good fats alike Omega-3 fatty acid, making them ideal for heart health and stop blood clotting naturally.

Ginger and Garlic

These are the two most common kitchen ingredients anywhere. They are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, thereby preventing arteriosclerosis (thickening of the arterial wall) and plaque formation. Ginger contains compounds called gingerols which having a warming effect on the body, enhancing the blood flow. It also helps in reducing the fibrin content of the body, lowering the risks of heart disease.

Drinking ginger tea is one of the best natural remedies for blood clots.
